What We Do

Our goal is to help your child be the person who God has called them to be. Students at St. Francis Xavier have the opportunity to go explore career pathways through:

• Work Experience (available from Year 10 until conclusion of Year 12)
• Career Expo visits
• University Experience Days
• University ‘Pop-Up’ Sessions

We work closely with students to help provide them with opportunities to explore potential careers aligned with their areas of interest. Every student is encouraged to make contact with the Careers team and arrange for a one-on-one career counselling session to help develop job ready skills, build their personal brand and map out opportunities for further education and training.

Students who undertake an Accredited Package have the opportunity of pursuing an Australian School-based Apprenticeship which combines school with vocational training and paid employment. Some of our students have undertaken apprenticeships in Hairdressing, Electrical, Landscaping, Business Administration and Hospitality.
Students who are undertaking a Tertiary Package are provided with opportunities to engage with universities and apply for early entry to courses all around Australia. Our NSW Universities Tours and University Pop-Ups are excellent opportunities for students to engage with providers and learn about opportunities to develop their passion with some of the world’s best tertiary institutions.

Subjects
In Year 10, students can undertake Pre-Apprenticeship Pathways which is a year-long elective designed to help provide students with the skills to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship in Year 11s & 12. At the end of the year, students may be eligible for a Certificate I in Vocational Pathways.

In Years 11 & 12, students can undertake Linked into the World, which can be completed as a Major or a Minor. The course is designed to help students navigate the world of work, and help achieve either a school-based apprenticeship or a full-time traineeship upon graduation. Upon graduation, students may be eligible for a Certificate I or Certificate II in Vocational Pathways.
