Principal’s blog – 12 November 2021

Dear Parents, Students and Staff

I wish to acknowledge the way the students have coped with the wearing of masks and attending to the personal hygiene expectations since being back at school. They have acted with responsibility and maturity in adhering to the ACT Health expectations.

One of the big challenges for the College is during wet weather days. We have limited communal space for students to spread out, socialise and eat when the weather precludes them from playing outside. We have allocated spaces in the College for the separate year groups and that has helped with managing the students. Staff have taken on extra duties to assist with pastoral responsibilities during these times too, for which I am very grateful.

We are heading towards exam periods, so I trust the students are preparing well for them. Year 11 and 12 have begun their exams and then Year 7-10 in the next couple of weeks. Staff are very busy with writing exams, marking and then completing the reports. A busy time along with the normal day to day routines.

The Year 12 students have begun their series of graduating events. They were treated to breakfast last Wednesday before their final school assembly. The breakfast was supplied and served by staff, and they congregated in the Hub which was a beautiful setting. Their final assembly culminated in a procession through the corridors being cheered by the junior classes as they went by. There were many teary faces with the realisation that they are leaving the security and normality of school and heading off into the next stage of their life. The Graduation and Formal are to follow soon and the students are looking forward to these celebratory events.
