Welcome back to live performances!

June 27, 2022

This term, we have been thrilled to welcome audiences back to our live performances! Our Senior Music and Senior Drama performance evenings held in the SFX Theatre earlier this term were both highly successful in showcasing our students’ musical and theatrical talent across an array of genres and performance styles. Our Production Crew students also put their skills to the test to set-up and run the AV for these events. We congratulate all students involved and thank Thea Zimpel, Annie Teasdale, Zac de Lacey, Dene Kermond, Hannah Carey and Ryan d’Argeavel for their expert guidance of our students and their assistance in organising these events.

On 1 June, Year 10 Drama represented SFX at the Act Up! Student Festival at The Canberra Theatre Centre. These students spent the semester creating an original piece titled ‘Trapped’ for the festival. The students not only performed exceptionally well but they were also wonderfully supportive and friendly towards their peers from other schools on the day. They did our school community proud! I would also like to do a ‘shout out’ for Mrs Teasdale for her work on Act Up!. Mrs T not only prepared her class for the performance, but she was also the Stage and Production Manager for the event—and she did a fantastic job at that!

Finally, thank you to all the family and friends who have attended performances this semester. We look forward to inviting you along to more in Semester 2!
