Yummy buns
June 27, 2022Year 7/8 Foundations class created their own version of Doraemon’s dorayaki (yummy buns) this week for a Great British Bake-off style ‘Yummy Bun Bake-off’.
Students have studied this term about Doraemon in their Cultural Studies class. Doraemon is one of the most popular anime/manga in Japan about a robot cat from the future that returns to help a boy named Nobita. Doraemon’s favorite food is dorayaki (a Japanese pancake with sweet bean paste inside) and always craves one.
The students had to design, draw and then make their own dorayaki with original fillings. They decided upon fillings such as fairy floss, strawberries, Tim-Tams, cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and even Vegemite to name a few.
The winner of the ‘Yummy Bun Bake-off’ was Eathan with his caramel sauce Tim-Tam marshmallow Yummy Bun.
The winner for Best Drawing vs Reality was Joey with his jelly-bean chocolate sauce marshmallow Yummy Bun and his drawing of Doraemon holding it.
