From the Principal – 31 March 2023
March 31, 2023Dear parents and friends
I was absolutely delighted with the attendance of over 1000 guests at our Year 7, 2024 Information Evening this week. The event showcased the College and the opportunities our future students will have to excel and flourish in an exceptional school, in state of the art facilities and under the care of an outstanding Faculty of women and men. I am very proud of the number of students who volunteered their time to assist with the Information Evening as speakers and tour guides. Our students’ pride in their school is inspirational! I am also delighted with the number of enrolment enquiries we are receiving at present. This speaks of the reputation of the College and the quality of the educational experience we offer. Please let your family and friends know that we are enrolling now and in preparation for 2024.
St Francis Xavier College is deeply committed to the preparation and support of our senior Vocational and Tertiary students for success in their studies and to this end last week we hosted the parents of these students at a Senior Studies Information evening. This was an opportunity for them to hear about senior studies and Board of Senior Studies policy, senior assessment, AST preparation, ATARs, and Vocational pathways. The event was very well attended by the parents of our senior students and I am very grateful for the expertise of my staff who led this.
I was very impressed with our Year 7 and 9 candidates who engaged in NAPLAN testing over the last two weeks. For many, this was a new experience as they had not engaged with NAPLAN previously due to COVID-19. We utilise NAPAN together with other rich forms of diagnostic data to inform our literacy, numeracy and learning agenda so that your children can excel during their time at the College. Thank you for your preparation of your sons and daughters and your support for the testing.
As Term 1 draws to a close I wish to offer my congratulations to your girls and boys for their wholehearted engagement with their studies, the community life of the College and with each other. I am very proud of their many academic and extracurricular achievements, their courtesy and generosity and their pride in themselves and the College.
I wish each of you and your families the blessings of Easter and a restful and peaceful mid term break.
Yours sincerely
Sandra Darley
College Principal
