Congratulations to the cast and crew who entertained and delighted us with this year’s College Musical ‘Fame’. The production led by Ms Annie Teasdale (Director) and Ms Hannah Carey (Production Manager) was colourful, entertaining, nostalgic and full of unexpected and hilarious characters, and captured exceptional student talent from Years 7–12 in the areas of drama, music, dance, voice, costume, sound technology, set design and backstage. The success of the Musical was a tribute to the talent and commitment of our students as well as the expertise and generosity of the staff who led our students in its production.

A special mention also to all students involved in Front of House, catering, set painting etc.
In recent weeks we have begun the process leading to the nomination and election of our 2024 Year 12 College Student Leadership team. This has included the introduction of a number of new and expanded leadership opportunities which better reflect student abilities and interests in the College and these have been met with great excitement by our Year 11 students. I am very keen to promote student leadership and leadership formation at all levels in the College and am looking forward to developing these opportunities further in 2024.
This term I have met with each Year 7 HUMs class for morning tea as an opportunity to thank them for the wonderful job they have done transitioning into secondary school this year, to hear feedback from them about their experience of St Francis Xavier and to ask them to offer suggestions about how we might improve the experience for our Year 7s in 2024. Their thoughtful and insightful observations about their experience of St Francis Xavier and suggestions for the future were very impressive indeed.
Year 12 are gathered at Collaroy in Sydney this week for their Retreat. This is a significant milestone for our Year 12 students and their teachers as they reflect on and celebrate the bonds of relationship and friendship they have shared during their time at the College and in our Senior School and I look forward to joining them. I am deeply grateful to both Year 12 and their teachers for their preparations for this event.
