SART goes to RoboCup 2024!
May 20, 2024We are thrilled that SFX’s very own Semi-Autonomous Rescue Team (SART) will be participating in the upcoming RoboCup in the Netherlands from 17 to 21 July, where they will be competing against world-renowned robotics teams.
RoboCup is the premier championship for robotics which aims to share knowledge and accelerating developments in the field. SART comprises of students from Years 9 to 12, providing the opportunity to create a robot from scratch and enter into international competitions.
The Rapidly Manufactured Robotics Competition allows for young students to enter the field of robotics research through using recent and low-cost rapid prototyping, electronics and sensors. The competition creates obstacles to simulate real life environmental disasters. It requires teams to work together to drive across rough terrain, sense the environment, and pick up and deliver objects. This requires a sharp understanding of electronics, mechanics, coding, and operative controls.
SART and the Rapidly Manufactured Robotics Competition also allow for young female students to feel part of a community and extend their skills in STEM in a supportive environment. This competition is incredibly important in empowering young Australian students in allowing them the opportunity to find support, and inspiration in an imperative field of STEM that contributes to the wider knowledge and advancement of technology.
We hope you can join us in cheering them on as they prepare for this wonderful opportunity.
