Senior Music and Drama Moderation Evening, Semester 1

We had a terrific Senior Music and Drama Moderation Evening this semester, where students’ unique talents in Performing Arts were on full display. Months of hard work have finally paid off as parents and friends enjoyed the various improvisations and performances beaming with pride.

On Wednesday 29 May, the Senior Drama class performed their Major Performance assessment showcasing their understanding of “Creativity in Drama”, Realism, Magical Realism and Australian Gothic Theatre. The Year 11 and 12 students performed a script that highlighted the Australian human experience and the significance and importance of human connection.

We were absolutely delighted with their final performance and so proud of their enormous effort to perform in front of their friends, family and teachers. Congratulations to all involved and a huge thank you to the Performing Arts team and the Technical crew for their support.

The following Wednesday, 5 June, the Senior Music Showcase featured many Music students displaying their interpretation of the theme of ‘Improvisation and Variation’ across a variety of styles, instruments and solo and ensemble formats on a night of a full moon. The students were able to experience the life of a rock star as they entertained the crowd under stage lighting and sound led by our skilled Production Crew with Ryan D’Argeval. All students were able to access the skills of a sound technician through their sound checks and final performances which proved to be a valuable experience for all involved. 

A breathtaking bass performance was staged by Bailey Bunter. Daring drum performances were played by Daniel Evans and Elijah Logan. Great guitar skills were captured on stage by Fletcher Allen, Emily Smith and Joshua Morrison. Smooth saxophone skills were showcased by Ethan Hunt. Vibrant vocal performances from Amelia Ayton, Raziel Colina-Alcazar (vocals and keys), Kendrick Cruz, Lachlann Mace (vocals and keys), Sabrina Orellana, and Emerson Peters (vocals and keys) stunned the audience. The night ended with a 20-minute marathon of an epic guitar medley led by Marc Cheah (also on additional drums), Taya Carson (guitar) and their supporting ensemble consisting of Raziel Colina-Alcazar, Ethan Hunt, Elijah Logan, and Lachlann Mace.

A huge thank you to all that attended, for those who supported us especially Noah Plunkett for his great presentation style and fantastic jokes, and to the production crew team for their hours of volunteering to set up and pack down, including the amazing Oliver Bruno. Thank you also to so many wonderful students who eagerly accepted additional unassessed work to support their classmates and friends in ensembles, including all of the Year 11 and 12 Music students, Henry Dennis-Latter and Emilio Hill.
