Exploring some of Canberra’s best Mountain Bike Trails (Outdoor Education)
November 1, 2024This semester, students have been learning about innovative technology related to exploring the outdoors. From skiing in the snowy mountains and learning about the history of alpine lifts in Perisher, to understanding why Canberra has amazing cycling trails. SFX students have discovered the reasoning behind the title of being “the Nation’s best designed and connected cycling city”.
Thanks to the ACT Government for providing a class set of Trek Marlin hard tail mountain bikes, we have had the privilege to learn new and fun skills as well as explore some of Canberra’s best trails.
From local cycling areas, to Bruce Ridge and Majura Pines, students could explore green beginner and blue intermediate trails. Furthermore, they also had the chance to tackle some of the challenging obstacles at Majura Pines Tree Tops Canberra. Students have been learning how outdoor endeavours and obstacles are created with risk ratings. This allows participants to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors at many different levels or skill abilities so that all people can have a rich experience in God’s creation (on foot, tree tops and mountain bikes)!
