From the Principal – 18 November 2024
November 18, 2024Dear parents and carers,
I have purposely delayed writing to you following our St Francis Day Mass and Feast Day activities as we engaged a professional photographer to capture these events and were waiting for the photos, some of which are included with my letter for your edification.
I wish to offer my sincere thanks to our staff and students for the success of our Feast Day Mass and activities. In particular I wish to thank our Chaplain Fr Simon who celebrated Mass and who delivered a powerful Homily which incorporated the life and legacy of St Francis Xavier. I was particularly pleased with the spirit of dignity and reverence our students demonstrated throughout our celebration.
It is at our Feast Day Mass each year that we announce the Year 7 – 12 Endeavour Awards. Congratulations to each of our 2024 Endeavour Awardees whose contributions both academic and community were celebrated at our Mass. They are:
Lucy Conn Year 7
Evan Maddox Year 8
Imogen Burgess Year 9
Darcy Menzel Year 10
Simone Walker Year 11
Tahlia Rose Year 12
I was also delighted to introduce the inaugural Exemplary Teacher Practice Award at our Feast Day Mass this year. Congratulations to this year’s recipient, our Director of Senior Studies Mrs Felicity Duffy. Mrs Duffy is an exemplary practitioner and was voted for this award by her colleagues.
Our Feast Day activities were exceptionally successful. It was such a great pleasure to be part of a wonderful atmosphere of staff and student collaboration and celebration, and I am very grateful to all of our students for the manner in which they joined in the activities on the day. I am sure you will also join me in thanking our teaching and support staff for their work with our boys and girls in the design and facilitation of stalls and activities. Later in the day I joined our students for the much anticipated and very entertaining ‘Battle of the Bands’. We are very fortunate to have such talented students and a generous community where they were able to showcase their many talents.
I wish to extend my very best wishes to Year 11 and 12 who will complete their examinations this week. Our junior students are working hard on their final assessments, reports, classwork and projects and I am delighted with their enthusiasm for their work and care for each other and their teachers during this very busy period of the year.
With best wishes
