Great news for Job Seekers

Minister Steel has announced the list of JobTrainer funded courses. A plethora of qualifications and short courses are now available free to young people (aged 17-24) that have finished school.

About JobTrainer

JobTrainer is an initiative of the ACT Government to support jobs and the economy during COVID-19. JobTrainer will deliver approximately 3,500 training places in key industries and occupations that are in demand in the ACT. These include:

  • Animal Care and Management
  • Building and Construction
  • Business and Financial Services
  • Community Services and Health Care
  • Creative Arts and Culture

Work experience at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment

Interested in games, animation and film? The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) Work Experience Program is a great way for students (Years 10 – 12) to learn about the interactive entertainment and digital industries!

Vocational Voices – new podcast available: are apprenticeships still a trusted brand?

Recent budget announcements and the challenges of a rapidly changing economy have put apprenticeships in the spotlight.

RSA and Bar Service qualification

With the holiday season coming up, it’s a great time to learn bar skills and get qualified to serve alcohol in the ACT. CIT Reid is running Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) courses and Bar Services courses before the end of the year.

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate – teaches you the skills and knowledge you need to serve and sell alcohol in a responsible manner.

Bar Service Course – for those who want to work in bartending positions in restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and clubs.

Electrical industry holiday program

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) is running a free electrical industry introductory program in the ACT 2020-21 Christmas school holidays. So if you’re thinking of starting an electrical apprenticeship in 2021 then this program may be for you! The program will provide:

  • theory and practical training
  • personal/professional development and mentoring
  • linkages to existing trades, apprentices and employers,
  • a Certificate II qualification, and
  • much more!

When?
Program 1: 11 – 15 January 2021
Program 2: 18 – 22 January 2021
