Over the last six months, we have been building up our social media presence at St Francis Xavier College, Florey.
We want to be able to let you know what is happening here at the college as quickly as possible, and show all of the diverse and wonderful things that are happening in this community.
We also like hearing about the different things happening around the college, so let us know by emailing our Communications Officer Beth Doherty on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have a post you want us to put up, include a picture if you can and a caption, and we will put it up for you and share it far and wide!
While social media can have its challenges, it is something that the Church as a whole endorses and supports, especially if it is used to enhance our relationships.
In his 2016 message (Communication and Mercy: A Fruitful Encounter) for the 50th World Day of Communications, Pope Francis (@Pontifex) said that “emails, text messages, social networks and chats” can be “fully human forms of communication”.
“It is not technology which determines whether or not communication is authentic, but rather the human heart and our capacity to use wisely the means at our disposal,” the Pope said.
He added: “Communication, wherever and however it takes place, has opened up broader horizons for many people. This is a gift of God which involves a great responsibility. I like to refer to this power of communication as ‘closeness’.”
