Leading in Languages
May 10, 2023As humans, we only know ourselves by engaging with and examining the languages and cultures of others. Stepping outside ourselves to examine diverse beliefs, values and cultures with a well-developed sense of curiosity helps us more deeply consider our own.
Students studying Languages at SFX develop intercultural understanding in every subject as one of seven general capabilities recognised in the National Curriculum, alongside literacy, numeracy and digital literacy. Learning a language transforms our understanding of self and others in an increasingly connected world—a world in which, just like St Francis, we are called to engage respectfully with diversity, and become courageous and effective navigators and leaders.
Listen, view and read below some of the ways our students at SFX are leading in Languages this term. Don’t forget to take a sneak peek at our top tips (also below) for families wanting to support language learning success from home.
