Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education

Yuma (hello)
Dhawura nguna, dhawura Ngunnawal
(This is Ngunnawal Country)

St Francis Xavier College acknowledges, promotes and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in all aspects of College life. We proudly embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural perspectives throughout our curriculum and are inclusive to all cultures and families.

The College has processes, networks and partnerships in place to provide our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with support to ensure students feel safe, welcomed and intellectually challenged.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture is celebrated in many ways throughout the school year. While Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded into the curriculum, the whole school celebrates the culture by participating in activities such as:

  • Harmony Day
  • Reconciliation Week
  • Mabo Day
  • NAIDOC week
  • NAIDOC Mass
  • Didge in a Day program
  • Bush tucker
  • Tutoring program through AIME (Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience)
  • Cultural dance experiences
