Design & Technologies

Different areas of this discipline to get a taste to what subjects they might like to elect to study in their later years.

In Years 9-10 students select two electives to study over the next one or two years.

Students electing to study Design and Technologies as senior courses have the choice of eight options, varying from tertiary, accredited and vocational courses.

As the world becomes more complex technologically, it is important for students to learn how to both critically analyse and creatively respond to design challenges.

Design and Technologies teaches students to be creative and responsive designers. Students manage projects independently and collaboratively from conception to completion—giving them a sense of pride and satisfaction in their abilities and setting them up with a variety of skills transferable to further education, home, leisure and future work.

Subjects covered in this area are split between Applied technologies such as graphics, metal, timber, engineering and mechatronics, construction and hospitality and textile technologies.
