Evana Rabi – ASBA Finalist
September 17, 2021A big congratulations to our wonderful Year 12 student, Evana, for being a finalist in the ACT Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year awards.
The ACT Training Awards is an annual opportunity to showcase the commitment, innovation and outstanding achievements of all those involved in the ACT vocational education and training (VET) sector.
This is how it works.
A candidate is nominated by their employer.
The judging panel selects finalists based on the applications they receive. An email is sent to all those who made it to the finals, then the finalists are interviewed. Lastly, the winner for each category is announced. The winner from each of the ACT training award categories represents the ACT in the Australian Training Awards.
Evana was nominated by her employer Karyn Hunter in the category Australian school-based Apprentice of the Year. Evana recalls, “I was shocked on hearing the news of my nomination. I just couldn’t believe that she nominated me out of the 38 ASBA students in my group… I think I was nominated by my employer because I showed passion, dedication and commitment for my ASBA.”
After the nomination, the judging panel selects finalists based on their nomination applications and an interview process. Evana explains “I think I was picked as a finalist because the judging panel loved my story and they want me to share it with the world“.
After this process, the winner for each category is announced. The winner from each of the ACT training award categories represents the ACT in the Australian Training Awards.
Evana’s says about her takeaway from the experience “I have learnt during the award journey from start to probably the end is, good things happen to you when you least expect them.”
A recognition well deserved—congratulations again Evana.
