BYOD begins for Years 7 & 10
January 25, 2023As you will be aware, Years 7 and 10 will be commencing on the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program this year. This program is compulsory.
Please read the following information on what action is required on your child’s first day of school.
First day of school 2023
College Supported BYOD device
Laptops have already been loaded with the SFX image.
Each student will be provided with a unique WiFi/network key to access the SFX network. They will attend a session with their Pastoral Group during an assigned time on their first day.
- Year 7: Tuesday 31 January 2023
- Year 10: Wednesday 1 February 2023
** if you have purchased a laptop online from LWT and have not collected it from the College, please email byod@sfx.act.edu.au to book a collection time. Students are not permitted to collect laptops as the parent/carer must sign paperwork to accept the ownership of the device.
Home Supported BYOD device
Students who select the Home Supported option will require a unique WiFi/network key to access the SFX network.
Each student will be provided a WiFi/network key to access the SFX network. They will attend a session with their Pastoral Group during an assigned time on their first day. Students must bring their completed Digital BYOD Agreement with them—signed by both the student and the parent/carer.
- Year 7: Tuesday 31 January 2023
- Year 10: Wednesday 1 February 2023
The Agreement is found at the end of the Digital BYOD Policy document.
Students will not receive a key until the Digital BYOD Agreement is signed by both the parent/carer and student. Further, if a device does not meet the required minimum specifications, a key will not be issued and the student will not be able to access the network. The Policy and Agreement are available on our website https://sfx.act.edu.au/byod/
Students who do not have a device
All Year 7 and 10 students are part of the new SFX BYOD Program commencing in 2023. This means that SFX will no longer be issuing devices for students to use. Instead, families are required to provide a device for the student to use—these devices must meet the minimum required specifications.
Visit our website for more information, to view devices for sale from LWT, our recommended Vendor (College Supported BYOD) or to view the minimum required specifications for purchasing a device from another vendor (Home Supported BYOD).
