Indigenous Rights and Freedoms tour
October 27, 2022On Monday 17 October, two Year 12 English classes broke the excursion drought and travelled to the National Museum of Australia to enjoy the educator-led guided tour, Indigenous Rights and Freedoms.
Our final Year 12 English assessment is an annotated timeline. In this task, students will analyse the most significant events in the past 100 years which have raised awareness and addressed inequality for First Nations peoples in educational achievement, life expectancy, and economic outcomes.
In class, we have been looking at contemporary issues faced locally, and those relating to the freedoms and rights of indigenous Australians.
Students enjoyed a series of yarns detailing the different leaders and advocates who have contributed to creating greater awareness of inequity and have contributed to the development of a more just and respectful society for our First Nations people.
