Sustainability Green Team: Earth Hour and World Bee Day 2024

May 16, 2024

This year, the focus of the Green Team has been small steps toward sustainability!

Our first initiative was Earth Hour. We created posters that were displayed around the school to illustrate the actions everyone can take to protect our planet. As a school, we switched off the lights, fans and projectors for an hour on the 22nd of March as a symbol of our commitment toward combatting climate change.

Towards the end of Term 1, the Green Team created seed bombs and seedling pots for our personal gardens at home in the absence of our school garden.

This term, we have been focused on World Bee Day, celebrated on the 20th of May 2024. We have created a Bee Hotel and pins to hand out to raise awareness. Each pin has wildflower and pollinator friendly seeds stuck to the back in an effort to improve the environment for bees in our community.

The Green Team is also holding a Garden Design Competition for the college, where applicants are encouraged to create the ideal garden for our school within a series of design requirements. We are so excited to see what everyone comes up with!

The College reception is open from 8.15am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday during the school term.
