Year 7 in the Garden

All the Year 7 students spent several lessons in our new SFX garden recently as they investigated the chickens, worm buffets and composting.

Studying waste reduction as a part of the sustainability integration in our Units, the students enjoyed learning about the different chicken breeds that we have at SFX and their names. They had fun discovering how to build and operate a worm buffet and why it is necessary to aerate the worm farm. They collaboratively worked on our composting bins and took care of our delicious tomato plants.

They all enjoyed taking their learning outside to the garden and look forward to their next visit.
