Japanese food in miniature
December 12, 2019If you think “Japanese food”, the first thing that will come to mind is sushi. But Japan has so many more food options than that and it is famous for its food culture – where it is said that you first eat with your eyes.
Japan is really into their “famous things in each area”. Kyoto has the Geisha, Tokyo has the bright lights. Regions and their famous foods is also a big ‘thing’ in Japan. Hiroshima is famous for its style of okonomiyaki and Fukui (our sister school area) is proud of their pure waters that produce excellent seafood.
So it was with this in mind that Mrs Bakonji’s Year 8 classes researched a region in Japan and the food it was famous for. The students also had their dexterity challenged – they had to recreate their chosen food in clay….in miniature!
