Homestays Required: Italian School Students Visit to SFX

St Francis Xavier College will be welcoming for the second time, our Italian host school, Il Liceo Bagatta, from Desenzano, Lake Garda in Italy. We are looking for families to provide home-stay from 17 August 2018 to 22 August 2018.
The relationship with Il Liceo Bagatta began over 6 years ago, when we, the Italian Department were searching for a school in Italy to develop a sister-school relationship. This school first hosted us in 2015 and then again in 2017. In 2016, we had the opportunity to reciprocate their hospitality when Il Liceo Bagatta visited us at SFX for the first time.
Il Liceo Bagatta will be visiting us again this year and it would be wonderful if we could return the wonderful warm hospitality we received to enhance the relationship between our two schools as we hope to return to Desenzano in 2019.
The students from Italy are hoping for a ‘full immersion’ into Australian culture and host families and students will benefit from learning about Italian culture. This is an excellent opportunity for SFX students of Italian to practice their language skills, share cultural experiences and hopefully establish life-long friendships. The program is designed to give the students from Italy first-hand experience in an Australian school and family to enhance their English language skills. The students will accompany their host brother or sister to school every day and attend classes. You will be expected to provide a packed school lunch every day.
For your information (and for forward planning), we have organised a day trip, as part of the exchange program, to Bateman’s Bay via Mogo, on Sunday 19 August. The SFX host student is also invited to participate/accompany their Italian student. The cost of this trip for the SFX students will be covered by the excursion levy. As we get closer to the date, final details will be made available to you.

In this way we can try to best match up your child with an Italian student (according to gender, age and interests). Please return the form to me, via your child or via email. It would be very much appreciated if you could reply by 31 May 2018.
