Sport Report for August/September

AFL
Congratulations to Harry Ryan-Baker who also participated in the U15 Boys AFL Championships in Adelaide recently. Harry gained tremendous football experience, skills and knowledge that will benefit him greatly both on and off the field. He received the ‘Best Player’ award for ACT v NT and was named in the top five ‘Best Players’ for three other championship games. Harry’s pleasing results saw him selected for the GWS (North) U15 Boys ‘All Stars’ Team, well done, Harry!
Hockey
Congratulations to Connaigh Whittaker (captain), Josh Carter (vice captain), Matt Mackenzie & Aiden Smith who recently represented the ACT SSSA Hockey team on the Gold Coast.
Netball
Favour Lokudu and Ellie Bishop represented the ACT in Netball recently in Melbourne. Well done to both girls!.
7/8 Netball
The year 7/8 Netball teams had a great time at the North side carnival yesterday. Each team played to their strengths and managed to get some good wins! Our Gold team played their way through to the finals and had a fantastic grand final win, 24-9. Our Blue team also had some great games and only just missed out on the finals due to points differential.
9/10 Netball
The girls had a great day and displaying fantastic sportsmanship and team work. The grand final against Merici saw a nail biting finish, with scores locked at 11 all at full time! An extra three minutes was played each way and again scores were tied! Both teams were declared joint winners and will be progressing through to the ACT carnival.
Soccer
Jacob Quinn and Luca Florez recently travelled to Shepparton, Victoria to represent the ACT at the U16 Soccer National Championships. Well done to Jacob, Luca and the team who finished the competition in third position.
Rugby
After a successful season captaining the Daramalan U15 Rugby team, Jeb Smith was selected on the Brumbies Gold Rep team. He will travel to Albury to compete at the National Championships in the coming weeks. He will then compete in a 5 day competition in Sydney at the end of the month. Well done, Jeb!
A reminder to all parents/guardians to please inform the College if your son/daughter has been selected in a representative team and will be away from school. Please also let me know so the success can be celebrated in the school newsletter!
