Year 10 Brain Bees

March 9, 2023

St Francis Xavier College is currently participating in the Brain Bee Challenge run by the Australian Neuroscience Society and Education Perfect. This challenge is an opportunity for Year 10 students to extend their knowledge of neuroscience and compete against students from across Australia.

The Brain Bee Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the brain, its functions, and how it relates to our behaviour and emotions. It is an interdisciplinary competition that includes elements of biology, psychology and neuroscience.

The competition is divided into several rounds, including multiple-choice questions, identification of brain structures, and practical neuroscience experiments. The Brain Bee Challenge aims to inspire and engage students in the fascinating world of neuroscience and promote interest in science and medicine as a career.

Participation in the Brain Bee Challenge is an excellent opportunity for our students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, improve their memory and attention, and learn about the latest developments in neuroscience research. In past years our students have performed exceptionally well in the competition, with two of our students placing first and third in the ACT in 2022.

Good luck to all our current participants. Year 10 students should be mindful there are further extension opportunities offered this year, with each term having a specific focus.

Please speak with your teacher for more information about Science extension at SFX.
