Year 8 Expo Day

At the end of Term 1, Year 8 classes celebrated the terms’ learning of How is a fair and just Australian community created? by creating and participating in a Country Expo.

The students identified the importance of shared values and explained the diverse nature of Australian society. They analysed features of an Australian democracy and recognised different types of law in Australia. They also learned about the national identity in Australia and the factors that contribute to people’s sense of belonging. After this they created their own countries in collaborative groups and then showcased these countries at the Expo.

Many students prepared food, designed flags and banners, played their National Anthems and showcased all their countries had to offer. Students had fun sharing their countries with other classes and students. A great learning experience!
