SFX Day 2022
November 21, 2022While it might seem trite to keep declaring each SFX Day as the best one ever, our most recent SFX Day celebrations on Friday of week 4 were definitely worthy of the claim.
After missing out last year, we were able to hold an SFX Day with no restrictions, meaning that after liturgy and trivia, it was two-and-a-half hours of stalls, followed by the afternoon session where Battle of the Bands, basketball, or quiet time in the Hub were the options for students and staff.
As might be expected, the majority made their way to the gym for Battle of The Bands. Guest judges were members of the band Muesli, who are former students from the classes of 2020 and 2021. Muesli also played a few songs to close the day.
In addition to the fun, SFX Day has again meant that we are able to make generous donations to our house charities:
- Karinya House
- Companion House
- St Vincent de Paul
- Canberra Refugee Support, and
- Pegasus Riding School for the Disabled.
In addition, we also added Catholic Mission to the recipients of the funds raised.
Huge thanks must go to Ms Jenna Martin and her Year 12 Business Services class, who did a huge amount of work in organising the day. Also, to Ms Fiona Debenham for the beautiful SFX Day liturgy, and as always, our Finance and Maintenance teams who went above and beyond to order stock and set up for the day.
